Relax , Unwind at County Downs Friendliest Fishery , this long established Trout Fishery is set amongst the natural rolling hillsides of Dromore , our Natural Main Lake is known historically locally through the years.

Please Note We DO NOT Allow Bait Angling on our fishery.

Our Fishery Comprises of 2 Lakes


Our Main lake is 10.5 acres which is well stocked regularly with Hard Fighting Rainbow Trout from 1lb - High Double Figures , Triploid Brown Trout from 1lb - 8lb & is Home Naturally “not stocked” to Pike from 30cm - High 20lbs.
We allow Fly Angling for both Trout & Pike throughout the year , with Dead Bait being an addition in Winter Months “October - March” for Pike in the main lake
We have a fleet of 6 Captain Pugwash Boats complete with Net , Electric Engines & Anchors for those Anglers preferring out on the water- available for hire daily.

Our Second Lake is a 1 acre pond - The George Freel Initiative Pond , which is home to Rainbow Trout & Triploid Brown Trout from 1lb - 10lb. This Is great for Groups , Families , Children aged 10+  , Disabled Anglers & Those New To Angling. We allow Fly Angling & ! Bubble & Fly  Only During School Holidays strictly 10-16  ! On this pond.

We welcome Float Tube & Kayak Anglers to Islandderry Trout Fishery - we do not charge for using your Float Tube or Kayak on our fishery.

You must have own life vest & all equipment - you will simply pay the normal day rate for fishing.

Our Trout Fishery has a Holding of resident Pike - We have Jack fingerling & Jack Pike from 30-40cm+ so they do Spawn within the lake.

We took over the lake in Sept 2025 and offered Dead Bait Angling January - April 2026. There were pike caught.

5.6lb , 6lb , 7.24lb , 8.39lb , 10.5lb , 11.38lb 15lb , 17.9lb , the biggest 18.63lb. Some of which we tagged for reference.

This past week there have been 3lb , 6lb 10-12lb  & plenty of 9lbers caught.

Our lake varies in depth from 3ft - 11ft in places with it naturally varying between - we have a carpet of aquatic plant on the bottom of the lake “weed” which sustains an abundance of natural invertebrates , cover for fish & the eco system of a healthy water.  This in turn ensures our Pike & Trout live harmoniously & we do stock with pike in mind.

We allow During  October - March pre booked Pike Angling limited to 4 swims daily with 3 on a Thursday/Friday overnight to ensure exclusive fishing & keeping within thresholds.
