Relax , Unwind at County Downs Friendliest Fishery , this long established Trout Fishery is set amongst the natural rolling hillsides of Dromore , our Natural Main Lake is known historically locally through the years.

Our Fishery Comprises of 2 Lakes

Our Main lake is 10.5 acres which is well stocked regularly with Hard Fighting Rainbow Trout from 1lb - High Double Figures , Triploid Brown Trout from 1lb - 8lb & is Home Naturally “not stocked” to Pike from 30cm - High 20lbs.
We allow Fly Angling for both Trout & Pike throughout the year , with Dead Bait being an addition in Winter Months “October - March” for Pike. We also Allow Pike Lure Fishing , Float Angling During Summer Months “April - Sept” for the Pike & Light Weight Spinning “Barbless Hooks” for Trout.
We have a fleet of 6 Captain Pugwash Boats complete with Net , Electric Engines & Anchors for those Anglers preferring out on the water- available for hire daily.

Our Second Lake is a 1 acre pond - The George Freel Initiative Pond , which is home to Rainbow Trout & Triploid Brown Trout from 1lb - 10lb. This Is great for Groups , Families , Children , Disabled Anglers & Those New To Angling. We allow Fly Angling & Bubble & Fly on this pond.

Here’s a polished version: Meet the newest addition to our fishery… Ghosty! Ghosty is the newest member of the team, and her job is simple: look amazing and keep anglers entertained while they’re fishing. Please note: nobody is to try catching her! She is a magnificent creature who has been given a safe place at our fishery to call home. We hope, just like Goldie at Hillside, that this lovely lady brings a smile to anglers’ faces as she glides gracefully around the pond.

F.A.Q

Why did you introduce a 4 hour ticket ?

We listened to Anglers who had voiced a suggestion that could benefit those Anglers who do not have the time or perhaps strength to fish a full day.

As such we are pleased to announce we have created our four hour catch & release session here at the fishery on the main lake only.

Why are you Closed Wednesdays

We Close the lake on a Wednesday to primarily rest the lakes & to give us time to carry out day to day maintenance  

How often do you stock & with what species?

We aim to stock fortnightly - 3 weekly periods for the Main lake & Monthly for the Bubble & Fly lake.

We stock Rainbow Trout & Triploid Brown Trout only although there are some natural colours & pike within the lake.

Why do you not allow alcohol at the lake ?

As a Family Orientated Fishery - We do not allow Alcohol to be consumed on our premises

Anyone caught Consuming Alcohol will be asked to leave immediately.

What method of bait fishing is allowed at Islandderry ?

On our Small Lake Only we allow Bait Angling strictly by bubble float & fly with barbless hooks.

This is primarily for those that cannot fully fly fish & is a fun way of catching & releasing fish safely , we do allow a 1 fish kill ticket on this lake.

We provide the Rod & Equipment for this method of fishing.
