Why did you introduce a 4 hour ticket ?

We listened to Anglers who had voiced a suggestion that could benefit those Anglers who do not have the time or perhaps strength to fish a full day.

As such we are pleased to announce we have created our four hour catch & release session here at the fishery on the main lake only.

Why are you Closed Wednesdays

We Close the lake on a Wednesday to primarily rest the lakes & to give us time to carry out day to day maintenance  

How often do you stock & with what species?

We aim to stock fortnightly - 3 weekly periods for the Main lake & Monthly for the Bubble & Fly lake.

We stock Rainbow Trout & Triploid Brown Trout only although there are some natural colours & pike within the lake.

Why do you not allow alcohol at the lake ?

As a Family Orientated Fishery - We do not allow Alcohol to be consumed on our premises

Anyone caught Consuming Alcohol will be asked to leave immediately.

What method of bait fishing is allowed at Islandderry ?

On our Small Lake Only we allow Bait Angling strictly by bubble float & fly with barbless hooks.

This is primarily for those that cannot fully fly fish & is a fun way of catching & releasing fish safely , we do allow a 1 fish kill ticket on this lake.

We provide the Rod & Equipment for this method of fishing.
We are pleased to announce that our Main Fly Supplier is our very own Staff Member Jonathan - his business page is JM Flies , Jonathan has a wealth of fly knowledge & specialises in traditional patterns for both the Trout Fisheries & indeed Rivers.

Jonathan takes pride in all his work ensuring quality hand tied flies each & every time using only quality materials from Kindale.

This young man eats / sleeps & breathes Fly Tying and his flies are proven to catch !

No order too big or small for this remarkable young angler.

Prices are £1:50 per fly -  boxsets also available on request.
Jonathan started his fly tying in his teenage years having learnt to tie by jackie “dry fly” mcaddems ,  Jonathan is forever honing his skillset by attending regular fly tying events & evenings by well known fly tiers.

You will often find Jonathan behind the vice at both Islandderry Trout Fishery & Hillside Trout Fly Fishery where  a staff member he continues building orders.

Jonathan began tying seriously during covid & began his small business in mis 2023 - his orders are building rapidly with Jonathan starting to supply fisheries & indeed tackle shops

  1. Only barbless or crushed barbs are allowed at Islandderry Trout Fishery.
  1. All fish over 3lb must be returned.
  2. Anglers Who Enter Islandderry Trout Fishery do so at own risk - Management accepts NO Responsibility for loss or damage to property within Islandderry Trout Fishery Boundaries. 
  3. No responsibility is accepted for any event which makes fishing impossible.
  4. Prices and bag limits may be altered without prior notice.
  5. Management reserve the right to examine any angler’s catch and equipment.
  6. Children under 18 must be supervised by an adult at all times.
  7. Fly Fishing only on the Main Lake at all Times.
  8. Fishing from platforms only unless on a boat.
  9. Maximum hook size 10 long shank single hook.
  10. No removing fish from the water on catch and release - If required use  de hooking mats on pegs or the grass bank and rest the fish before release.
  11. No returning fish except on catch and release when bag limit reached.
  12. Please only use our nets.
  13. Islandderry Trout Fishery is an alcohol free fishery.
  14. Please take all rubbish including cigarette  ends and nylon home for disposal or place into our blue bins around the lake.
  15. Usage of the Childrens & Family lake is strictly Bubble & Fly “provided by ourselves - At no time should Anglers attempt to use own gear.
  16. By purchasing any ticket, your are consenting to us taking video or still photographs which may include your face and published them on our digital media or websites.
ANYONE BREAKING ANY OF THESE RULES WILL BE ASKED TO LEAVE AND MAY BE BANNED.
